Clean LinkedIn hashtags for an event recap

Use a small, accurate set of tags for a LinkedIn event recap without losing the story of the event.

An event recap is useful when it tells attendees and absent readers what happened and what can be learned.

The problem behind the post

After an event, several collaborators may suggest a sponsor tag, event tag, city tag, industry tag, and campaign tag. The resulting block can overshadow the actual takeaway. Before cleaning the list, decide what the recap is for: thanking participants, sharing a lesson, or sending readers to a resource. The post itself should deliver that purpose.

A practical way to handle it

Start with the official event name if one exists, then add only context that helps the intended audience understand the post. Check spelling and capitalization against the event organizer's materials. Use the Hashtag Cleaner to remove duplicates after combining suggestions from your team. It preserves the first version of a tag, so place your preferred spelling first.

Read the finished post without the tags. Does it explain one memorable question, answer, or outcome? If not, revise the body. A photo caption that merely lists speakers and says “great energy” gives little value to someone who could not attend. Link to notes, a recording, or a summary only if that destination is available and useful.

Three steps for clean linkedin hashtags for an event recap

A worked example

A workshop for local shop owners covered how to photograph products near a window. The recap can state the most helpful experiment—placing a white card opposite the window—and credit the presenter. An event-specific tag and a clear product-photography topic tag may be enough; unrelated “leadership” tags dilute the description.

Before you publish

  • Is the event name written correctly?
  • Does the recap share one concrete lesson?
  • Would every tag make sense to a non-attendee?

A common mistake

Avoid using a sponsor's unrelated marketing tag simply because it appeared on a slide. If a partnership needs disclosure, make it explicit in the post. Hashtags cannot replace attribution or a clear relationship statement.
